Dorchester teen remains missing

Emily Nguyen

The family of Emily Nguyen reported this morning that the 16-year-old last seen outside Another Course to College in Hyde Park last Friday afternoon remains missing:

To make it short - she’s still out there somewhere.

With this information, we are not so sure that the detective had a "trace" of Emily and she is "not in danger" so we are re-mobilizing and continuing the search for Emily.

Anybody who spots her or who has information about her whereabouts can contact police at 617-343-4335. Flyers about her disappearance can be picked up at Viet-net Travel, 1029 Dorchester Ave. in Dorchester.

I'm curious whether this is believed to be a teen runaway (very common) or the much rarer unexpected disappearance without a trace. Some of the social media posts and rumors are cryptic, making it hard to tell what's going on here. BPD should go on record with a clear, concise description of what they know thus far and whether they are seeking the public's help.

She's 16 and missing.

That's all that matters.

The whole "just a teen runaway" nonsense led to the deaths of many young women and men over the years. It isn't any longer a cop excuse to not be bothered looking.

Swirly, while your expertise on all matters is renown, allow me to further educate you on this one. The police handling of a 16 year-old "runaway" who is intentionally avoiding her home/parents is much different than the way they handle a 16 year-old who uncharacteristically vanishes without a trace. The nonchalance of the police leads me to believe they aren't too concerned about this yet the parents seem quite frantic. A police spokesman explaining how the BPD is handling the matter would go a long way, 'tis all.

As I'm sure a later article mentions but damn I'm glad this had a happy ending.
