Fire erupts in senior-citizen apartment building in Brighton
Two residents of the BHA's Patricia White Apartments, 20 Washington St. in Brighton were hospitalized following a second-floor fire reported shortly after 8:30 a.m.
Although the fire was confined to a single apartment, fire commissioners went to a fourth alarm to bring in firefighters to evacuate residents. Some residents away from the fire scene were told to shelter in place.
The fire was knocked down by about 9:20 a.m.; firefighters remained on scene to vent smoke and to ensure no flareups.
The Boston Fire Department estimates damage at $500,000 and says the residents of 20 apartments were displaced.

I was wondering...
That explains why there were cops directing traffic in the area around Washington Square, and why I saw a couple of 66 buses running on Beacon St. Thanks, Adam.
