Hotel near North Station proposes expansion on what is now a parking lot

The owners of the Onyx Hotel on Portland Street want to add another 77 rooms in an eight-story addition on what is now a parking lot next to the hotel.

In a letter of intent filed this week with the BPDA, Boylston Properties says the addition "will be distinctly contemporary, but will take cues from the substantial, handsome commercial buildings framingham historic Portland Street" and that it will include ground-floor space for a restaurant.

The company's next step is to file detailed plans. If the addition is approved, it would bring the hotel up to a total of 189 rooms.

Does Framingham have public urination and defecation and vomiting on the sidewalks like Portland Street does? Have u seen how disgusting the sidewalks are down there? 311 can't keep up. I live in JP but work around corner from Portland. Getting used to it.

But no one is taking a dump on the street, come on with the added drama already. I've worked in that neighborhood for decades and you can always tell when the Bs had a game the night before, the piles of puke let you know. Hockey fans include tons of knuckleheads who down as much as they can, before, during, and after. They should hose down the sidewalks every AM like they do in NYC.

Like they do on Franklin Street next to Millennium Tower Residences every morning? Why can't North Station have that?
