Jamaica Plain fire displaces six

The Boston Fire Department reports a two-alarm fire at 49 Boylston St. displaced six people and two dogs, one of whom required a bit of medical attention at the scene.
Firefighters responded at 4:05 p.m., the department says, estimating damage at $400,000. The cause is under investigation.

That explains
the helicopters overhead. Glad everyone (and everydog) made it out OK.
Also, a moment of recognition for BFD, who not only charge valiantly into every life-threatening emergency the city can throw at them, but also maintain a really good social media presence to keep us apprised of what's happening near us, and are generally the nicest and most humble dudes and dudettes you'll ever meet. (Why yes, my 5-year-old DID get to sit in the fire engine last summer, why do you ask?) . I wish all our public services could run as well as BFD.
