There's about to be a lot less of A.C. Moore, as in none

A.C. Moore's parent company is closing all of the chain's outlets, including the one in the Dedham Mall. Some could become Michaels stores; no word on whether that includes the Dedham store.

They opened a brand-new AC Moore store at Fresh Pond shopping center in Cambridge just this past February. It replaced one that they had closed in Assembly Square.

I doubt that Michaels will want to take this location over, as they already have a store nearby in Porter Square.

I hope michaels takes over the dedham one; there's zero craft supplies between fenway/symphony dick blick and the norwood michaels right now.

There's a Michael's in Porter Square (mentioned above) and a Blick in Central Square.

...... neither of which are between Fenway and Norwood, you know, the southern half of the metro area, which everybody forgets exists, I guess? Where the Dedham location in question is?

There's no Michaels in Norwood.

The Michael's is at University Station in Westwood, by the Target

There's a Jo-Ann in West Roxbury by the Taco Bell. They have a full array of craft supplies. They don't sell the full range of fine arts supplies that Blick does though.

That Jo-Ann Fabrics has been closed for a long while now.

Joanns closed over a year and a half ago, my bro, when the building had flooding issues. There's some kind of other business in there now.

I went to the Alewife one and was really disappointed. The whole store was just a bunch of follow-the-instructions craft kits. I asked if they sold purse frames and they looked at me as if I had three heads. Which of course I can buy online. So yeah, maybe they're right to get out of the business.
