The Weather Channel is here and they've broken out their rulers
By adamg on Fri, 01/18/2019 - 9:20am
Gary Waldeck ran across the Weather Channel's Steve Petyerak and Jim Cantore along the waterfront this morning, bracing, as one does when one works for the Weather Channel, for this weekend's snow/sleet action.
Yes, Mr. Thundersnow is in town. That's rarely a good thing. We've raised the French Toast Alert level to 4 Slices/High.

A foot of snow tomorrow night.
We'll just have to walk everywhere, uphill, both ways.
But not before...
...we work at the mill for 24 hours, with only a handful of hot gravel for dinner.
Everyone needs to stop
It's gonna be a bust.
You know it, I know it, even that idiot Cantore knows it.
Your old elbow injury isn't scientific
How do you know this?
Is it what you believe or is it based on factual information and weather forecasting experience with various modeling outputs?
It won't be a bust
But I don't see this being a 4 slice/orange storm.
It's going to be a crappy Sunday, and the Arctic blast come Monday won't make things better, but at least it will be "warm" by midweek.
Existential Angst
Arctic Vortex may be mucking with the Jet Stream again
We seem to be in an early El Nino pattern
The Gulf Stream is WARM
Most people forget that we had a storm like this days before IT started in 2015.
What could possibly go wrong?

The storm we had this time 4 years ago
Was all rain.
I remember it well. We went to Providence for some reason or other. Warm (for January) and rainy.
NWS is saying it will be about freezing for a decent period in the middle of next week. The comparisons to 4 years ago are off.
Where you were it was rain
It dumped considerable sloppy snow first - we have pics of my son's birthday brunch when it was piling up. I'm talking the one on the 24th - had to shovel out of the driveway.
And you probably aren't looking at the larger weather patterns across the continent and into the atlantic, ENSO, early spring on the west coast, etc., either.
To be abundantly clear
We are talking the day of the alleged Deflate game, right?
I have my orange cone all
I have my orange cone all ready to mark my spot once I’m done shoveling my car out.
Unimaginitive
Don't you have an old PC, or maybe a Bathtub Mary you could use instead? Come on - give the neighbors something fun.
Space saver war BEGINS
Got my broken minifridge set to go out after this snowstorm. Yay for hazmat item that I can also put a rack of Sam Adams in to chill for the shoveling!
Tell them molasses flood
Tell them molasses flood season is already over.
