BPD officer who died of coronavirus gets hero's procession from hospital to funeral home

Sean Ryan was among the people who watched a procession of BPD vehicles escort the body of Officer Jose Fontanez from Boston Medical Center to the Mann and Rodgers Funeral Home on Perkins Street in Jamaica Plain today. The procession went past the District E-13 station at Washington and Green streets, where Fontanez had worked since 1996. Fontanez, 53, died from Covid-19 earlierr this week, the first Boston officer to succumb to the virus.
