Local medical journal says it's time to vote out the orange menace

The New England Journal of Medicine, based in Waltham, took the unusual step today of calling for regime change because of the death-filled chaos our national response to Covid-19 has become:
Anyone else who recklessly squandered lives and money in this way would be suffering legal consequences. Our leaders have largely claimed immunity for their actions. But this election gives us the power to render judgment. Reasonable people will certainly disagree about the many political positions taken by candidates. But truth is neither liberal nor conservative. When it comes to the response to the largest public health crisis of our time, our current political leaders have demonstrated that they are dangerously incompetent. We should not abet them and enable the deaths of thousands more Americans by allowing them to keep their jobs.

Proper to make it about science. They didn't even
have to mention the cynical, amoral calculus that led to so many tens of thousands of unnecessary deaths, how many decisions were born of sociopathic, pitiless malice, not merely sheer incompetence. It's mass murder and a profound betrayal of Constitutional oaths and American ideals. And it's not just on the head of Trump, but on all his enablers across three branches of government and complicit propaganda media.
It's a wound that's going to take a long time to heal. We have to excise the lethal parasite first.

Prohibited Political Activity
Tax Exempt organizations are prohibited from directly intervening in political campaigns. Voter education may be allowable, but not in a clearly biased manner. Mass Medical Society needs to tread carefully.

Many (most?) churches have been openly violating the prohibition of tax exempt political activity for years with no enforcement that I am aware of.

End time strong spiritual delusion
That’s right. Many big name white Evangelical leaders are unwittingly falling away from Jesus Christ with their idolatrous lust for political influence falsely thinking they can bring the Kingdom of God in through politics. Neglecting the New Covenant and New Commandment of Jesus beginning with the least of these.
In summation the past 40 years we have witnessed the political gospel descended into a cult of personality descending into a religious death cult. Spiritually and physically. Jesus weeps.

Time for Fish to cancel his subscription to the New England Journal of Medicine.
My issue with NEJM is one of tone: its
regular use of sarcasm, irony and elaborate puns strikes me as a little odd in a discussion of exome sequencing for nonimmune hydrops fetalis, for instance.
I prefer the sober solemnity of The Lancet, though its sprinkling of wry, dryly-witty cartoons throughout is welcome, even if some are so subtle I don't "get" them (thank goodness for explainlancetcartoons.com). I also favor the consistently grim, deadpan black humor of JAMA. If you're gonna mock The Plague, best to do so through a tight smile and gritted teeth.
NEJM's got pretty solid content otherwise. (Screw the BMJ, though: it's the Four Humors, not the Four Humours, jerks.)

Science is not political, and NEJM's post was entirely focused on science. If you don't lead a pandemic response based on science, you are incompetent and must be replaced with leaders who will.

This is where the slaughter occurred. The blame falls on state governments, governors.
A global pandemic cannot be fought solely on a local level. The
tens of thousands of excess deaths in the US lay squarely on the heads of our national leaders for their failure to contain the spread, to encourage citizen behaviors to limit the spread, and to scale up PPE production, testing, selective quarantining and contact tracing.
In other words, Trump and his craven enablers have the blood of this lethal fiasco on their hands.
