Man charged with murdering Dorchester woman while she was outside watching July 4th fireworks

A man was arraigned yesterday on charges he ended a fight by opening fire on a group of people watching fireworks early on July 5th on Stonehurst Street in Dorchester, killing one of them, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports - adding the man's sister was charged with witness intimidation charges in the case.

Kristian Maraj, 22, was ordered held without bail at his arraignment for the murder of Felicity Coleman, 34.

According to the DA's office:

A group of people had gathered around Stonehurst Street and Norton Street in Dorchester to watch individuals set off fireworks.

Mr. Maraj got into a fight with another individual and dropped a gun, which a friend picked up and ran with towards Mr. Maraj’s house on Hamilton Street. Mr. Maraj’s father tried to intercede in the fight, and was stabbed. Mr. Maraj retrieved the gun and ran back towards Norton Street shooting at a group of people and fatally wounding Ms. Coleman.

Maraj's sister, Bianca Balkishun, was charged with witness intimidation, the DA's office reports:

On July 14, she is alleged to have told a witness: “You are ratting my brother out…there’s a bullet with your name on it…watch out, you’re next.’’
