Massachusetts trial courts to just shut completely Monday and Tuesday

The Executive Office of the Trial Court announced tonight all of the state's trial courts will be closed for two days - and that jurors already hearing trials will be notified not to come in.

The announcement does not say why the courts will be shut for two days, on top of earlier announced efforts to reduce the spread of Covid-19 while maintaining the rights of people facing charges, but did note Gov. Baker's order today banning gatherings of more than 25 people in one place.

If you supposedly have a right to a speedy trial, everyone awaiting trial should be released. They should not have to socially isolate in a jail, especially considering the way prisons And jails already objectively do not meet the health care needs of detainees.

Does that include the three people BPD arrested this weekend for murder? What could possibly go wrong?
