The Ride is fully back; so is the need to pay fares on buses and some trolleys

WBZ reports Ride drivers and the comapny that runs the Ride reached a contract deal; the T says the Ride should be back to regular operations today.

Separately, the T's put in new barriers and signs on buses and trolleys, which means riders once again can board at the front on buses and at street-level trolley stops - so break out that CharlieCard The move also means more seats for riders.

Unfortunately not everyone was aware they needed to pay for the buses/trolleys. Saw many turned away and asked to get off the bus this morning.

No, drivers reached an agreement with Veterans Transportation, not the T.

The sooner they get rid of onboard fare collection across the entire MBTA system, the better. I imagine it only takes a handful of really slow people to cause bus bunching etc.

I think it's a good idea to put a fare machine at busy urban bus stops. But telling everyone on suburban routes that they need to travel by some other means to a 7-11 to buy a CharlieCard before they're allowed on the bus is a terrible idea.

Why are the ones with no money on their CharleCard always the first in line to get on the bus?

It was so weird leaving work this morning. We lined up at the rear doors #39 but the driver waited patiently for us to get our heads out are arses. Tonight we had one guy with a cane get on calmly saying he had no money. The driver didn't stop him from boarding and yes he was the first one on the bus. Overall a good transition.
