Three police officers stabbed in Saugus

Saugus Police report officers who responded to a report of a stolen U-Haul vehicle this morning found themselves under attack by a man with a knife this morning.

Three officers were stabbed; Steven Sossong, 43, of Saugus was arrested.

Police say that when officers knocked on Sossong's Tuttle Street door around 7:20 a.m., he refused to come out.

Police made entry into the home following an initial investigation, and an altercation ensued with SOSSONG.

Three Saugus Police Officers were stabbed by an sharp weapon upon entry, all sustaining what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

The three were taken to a local hospital for treatment, along with a fourth officer taken for observation.

Sossong was charged with four counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and four counts of assault and battery on a police officer, police say.

I hope the officers who were stabbed are ok. I hope they recover soon.

None of the investigating officers are wearing masks, none are social distancing. During live coverage on channel 4, I counted 17 officers, from State Police and local police, none of them wearing masks, all congregating and talking without social distancing. Some of them were shaking non gloved hands. That's not including the non uniformed individuals, whom I am guessing are also police officers. None of the non uniformed individuals were wearing masks either.

I don't understand why so many people refuse to take covid19 seriously. Only one officer in the live coverage even showed a mask, and it was hanging below his chin.

I keep hearing Charlie Baker saying most people are taking precautions , wearing masks, and social distancing. Maybe at least 51% are taking this seriously. Maybe not. But I'm seeing plenty of people everywhere without masks.
