Watertown man has gun license taken away for pointing loaded gun at people trying to leaflet his house about Armenia/Azerbaijan conflict, police say

Watertown News reports (scroll down) two people distributing leaflets about the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh called police because one resident pointed a gun at them and wouldn't stop pointing it at them even after they said what they were doing. Police found the man still clutching the loaded gun, heard him say he thought the two were trying to break into his house, then eventually charged him with eight counts related to improper storage of weapons and suspended his gun license.

According to MGL, a gun "shall not be deemed stored or kept if carried by or under the control of the owner".
Did the guy let the cops into his home and show them his gun collection?
Let's be real here
If you're dumb enough to answer your front door with a gun when there isn't a clear threat, you're also probably dumb enough to be leaving a bunch of guns lying out in plain view from your front door.

IANAL, but if you answer the door with a gun in your hand, I bet that's sufficient grounds for the cops to invite themselves in, if only to make sure there aren't any other armed people lurking. If they then see 8 guns lying around, there you go.

Seeing him with a gun was enough "probably cause" to search his house. Expect that to be challenged in court.
