In Cambridge, the line grew and grew last night as residents tried to get Covid-19 tests

Nick Surrette was among the people trying to get Covid-19 testing at Cambridge's sole testing site yesterday - he estimates the line grew to 1,000 people:

The failure is the governments' REQUIREMENTS for COVID tests. Governments around the world instituted burdensome and unrealistic PCR test mandates for travel. There is not enough lab capacity to handle that volume of testing during the peak travel period, yet government is not backing down from the mandates.

The reason these people are getting tested is so that they can visit family for Christmas, or because they have been symptomatic or exposed.

I traveled recently and had to get a test, but only because I was crossing an INTERNATIONAL border. It actually wasn't a big deal.

Please link to these supposed mandates - when I flew I didn't even need to show proof of vaccination, let alone a recent PCR.

Do continue in your freedumb dream world tho.

Check the travel restrictions for people visiting Asian countries (like China, South Korea, Singapore) for starters.

People aren't standing in long lines and paying $300 or more at express PCR testing kiosks just because they elect to be cautious. They're being compelled.

Search google for "COVID test delays" to find out more.

...is compelling you to travel to China, South Korea or Singapore on short notice?

You think this is all planeloads of Korea-bound people? Seriously?

You should maybe have a look at this before replying with more ignorant speculation: https://www.mwra.com/biobot/biobotdata.htm

A spike in COVID at Deer Island means A SPIKE IN CASES - and exposures. Sheesh.

I was there for my booster shot and saw the line and nearly panicked. What was especially confusing was that there were people there for testing as well as for vaccinations (initial dose and boosters). The line for getting a booster shot was quite short, but there was very little and very poor signage to indicate that there was a separate line for getting a booster. I had to ask a cop to find out where the boosters were taking place. I heard a number of people say that they waited on the testing line for a half hour or more before figuring out that there was a separate place for the booster.

Once I got to the right location, getting the booster was fast and easy, but I felt bad for all the people who had no choice but to wait on that extraordinarily long line for testing. I believe many of the people were coming from places outside of Cambridge because this was the best (free) option right now. Hopefully that will change.
