Convicted crack-dealing gang member is charged with shooting on Zeigler Street in Roxbury

Boston Police report arresting Jeremiah Mines, 30, on charges he shot somebody outside 103 Zeigler St., near Bethune Way around 8:05 p.m. on Saturday.

Mines was arrested Sunday afternoon around the corner from the scene, at Dudley and Winslow streets, on charges of assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm (second and subsequent offense) and unlawful possession of ammunition, police say, adding the victim survived.

Mines is still on federal probation on his 2018 sentencing for crack dealing. A federal judge sentenced him to a year in prison and six years of probation after he pleaded guilty to two counts of distribution of cocaine base within 1,000 feet of a school for selling crack in 2016 to a buyer who turned out to be working for the FBI.

As part of his probation, Mines, at the time a member of the Orchard Park Trailblazers gang, was ordered to stay away from a large swath of Roxbury, centered on the Orchard Gardens development, one side of which is bordered by Zeigler Street.

Innocent, etc.
