DA: Hyde Park man shot would-be marijuana customer in the stomach, then kept firing as the victim and his friends tried to flee

A Hyde Park man was ordered held without bail at his arraignment yesterday on charges he murdered a man who'd come to his Ellis Street house on Dec. 13 to buy some marijuana.

According to the Suffolk County District Attorney's office, Storlen Webster of Roxbury and two friends drove up to Emmanuel Maldonado's house around 7:30 p.m.:

After arriving at the location, the victim and one of his friends exited the vehicle and interacted with Mr. Maldonado, who fired a shot that struck Mr. Webster in the abdomen.

Mr. Webster and his friend fled to the vehicle and attempted to drive from the area. However, Mr. Maldonado allegedly continued to fire on the vehicle. Prosecutors allege that he caused the vehicle to become disabled, forcing the victims to flee on foot. Mr. Webster collapsed a short distance from the vehicle and later succumbed to his injuries.

A Suffolk County grand jury indicted Maldonado for the murder on March 31. He was arrested Friday at a home on Woolson Strreet in Mattapan.

Innocent, etc.
