A Jamaica Plain man on probation for 2018 convictions for taking and distributing photos of a naked child now faces federal charges for the way he convinced a 13-year-old Ohio girl he met through TikTok to pose naked for him in photos, the US Attorney's office reports.
Hector Acevedo, 31, had been arrested by Boston Police in October in connection with the newest case. He now faces up to 30 years in federal prison if convicted, the US Attorney's office reports.
According to an affidavit by an FBI agent on the case, Acevedo began communicating with the girl in May, at first via TikTok, later over video chats on Google Duo. Acevedo allegedly told her she was 17 - and would hide much of his face during their video chats, even as he convinced her to pose nude for him.
At one point, the affidavit continues, she was posing for Acevedo naked when her father came into the room - Acevedo allegedly told her to tell her father she was changing a her sanitary pad.
Eventually, however, the girl's mother found some of the explicit photos on the girl's phone and went to her local police - who in turn contacted the FBI.
