Problem of the hour: Red Line without power

At 8:51 p.m., the MBTA announced "a power problem near South Station" and that trains would be standing by at stations.

The announcement, however, doesn't mention anything about trains that were in tunnels when the power went off.

At 8:56 p.m., Carina Flynn reported:

Stuck on a Red Line train that went dark, silent and slowly rolled to a stop between South Station and Broadway for the past 10+

A minute later, J reported:

Passengers are getting very hot. Beginning to get very panicky. Please help ASAP

At 9:08, Flynn provided an update:

I texted my daughter that we’re rounding the 6th circle of hell and approaching the 7th.

We’re “moving shortly” though! Like we have been for the last 20 minutes, of course .

J. also provided an update:

Update: they keep telling us “should be moving shortly”, after ignoring us for the first 20 minutes. MBTA members are yelling at each other outside the train in the tunnel between South Station and Broadway. Can’t hear what they are saying.

Update, 9:46 p.m.: Power returns, trains pull into stations, riders are free to go. Flynn:

We finally gained our freedom and for now that is everything!
