Great news to start off the week.
What does this mean for cities and towns?
If cities and towns currently have more restrictive rules than the state (whether regarding masks, or business capacity, or social distancing, or anything else), do those automatically lapse on May 29, or June 15, or at all?
I would think
Towns/City’s could hold off until June 15 as May 29th just ends a mandate. However, June 15th ends the state of emergency.
Also glad the Governor noted private businesses can continue to require masks. It’s their property/business. It’s no different than a “no shoes, no shirt, no service” sign.

I assume they can keep them, the same way that some cities and towns, including Boston and Somerville, have had stricter rules than the state, and/or moved through the reopening phases more slowly.
Somerville will probably send out an email about this.

Masks made it hard for me to breath, bike commute, and work. (I still wore them.) I can't wait to be done with them.
Real dust masks (the type with separate filters) with one-way vents I find much better in situations where I need a mask.

In other words, they're doing something that doesn't harm anyone and doesn't inconvenience anyone and that sends some irrational people insane with spit-spraying rage.

I don't care if someone wants to electively wear a mask; it's the seeming need to broadcast it online that I'm pointing out. As the requirements are phased out, I'm totally in favor of staying out of each other's way on the mask wearing issue and keeping the decision personal.
But in case you weren't aware of the joke, it's basically "how do you know if someone's a vegan? don't worry, they'll tell you"

New guidelines should keep masking for unvaccinated
I certainly hope the new guidelines will keep indoor mask wearing for those who have not been vaccinated (per CDC guidelines).
As for allergies, wearing a mask has definitely ameliorated dealing with the horribly high pollen counts. Not eliminated my allergies, since pollen does get indoors, but wearing my mask outdoors definitely helps.

I got vaccinated as soon as I could, about 8 days after I became eligible. And because the whole process takes 6 weeks, I still won't be fully protected by the time the state "fully opens up".
How exactly do they think this works?
(Gen avail was April 19; with Moderna it takes 6 weeks from first shot, which brings us to May 31. Add a month buffer for people's actual eligible-to-appointment delay and we're looking at July 1 as a more plausible opening up day.)
