West Roxbury's unique trading post closes after death of owner

The Reliable Trading Post on Park Street, long a purveyor of everything from old dolls to clocks to old advertising signs, is closed this week and most of its contents now gone.

Owner Judith Benmosche died in November, 78.

The Trading Post lived up to its name - although everything was for sale, you could also bring in items - provided they were things that might have been around in the 19th century - with which to barter.

I only hear about the cool places after they go away.

There used to be a place like that in Harvard Square on Church Street back in the 1990's. It had been around a lot longer than that though. I don't even think it had a name. Harvard students would bring trinkets to sell when they were graduating. I got a sweet pocket knife and an honest to god castle designed to hold D&D figurines there. I miss places like that.

That's really sad. That place looked really cool and I was planning on checking it out after covid.

damn I wish I had known of this place.. I started my wall project to finally hang stuff on my walls. I like unique quirky pieces.

This place would have had stuff I would have liked.

I just noticed Restoration Project in Belmont. It looks like a great thrift shop for furniture, clothing, and household stuff.
