And the award for the best storrowing of 2022 goes to ...

Flipped over truck at Grand Junction bridge

Live Boston reports that around 2:30 a.m., the driver of a box truck slammed into the train bridge under the BU Bridge, flipping the truck on its side, spilling fuel all and his cargo all over the road and briefly getting himself entrapped before being rescued by firefighters.

The inbound side of the road was, of course, completely shut, as was one lane on the outbound side.

So perfect form and stuff was strewn everywhere. The only potential detraction from a perfect score: That he did it at 2:30 a.m., minimizing the impact on traffic - a good storrowing inconveniences hundreds, even thousands. But thanks to the fuel and debris, cleanup lasted until the start of the morning rush, so no fears, this was a perfect 10.

State Police report the truck was carrying boxed sprouts, and that the driver was not seriously hurt.

As of 10:15am on Friday, Google Maps is still showing inbound of Storrow Drive closed. Agreed on the 10/10 Storrowing, but this idiot should have his license revoked & be significantly fined for catastrophe. What a cluster$#%@

I agree, this is epic. I posted the Penske truck that was on two wheels at the Kenmore Sq bridge from the summer.

the first use of ‘Storrowing’ to describe vehicles stuck under a bridge? The first place I ever saw it was UH. Even the Globe uses the term, but we know how cutting edge the Globe ain’t.

I can't claim credit for the first ever use of it, but it became popular here and spread. I and other folks here were definitely using it long before MSM.

EXTRA Storrowed!

This driver's logbooks and blood test results will be ... uh ... interesting?

I wonder if the truck has a chip that recorded the speed at impact.

Looks like he was Speeding to me; In both senses of the word. wink, wink nudge, nudge.

looking at it and thinking "wow. Just wow."

Here's hoping that Graffiti vandals spray paint warning messages on all bridges and overpasses on Storrow drive because whatever DCR is doing is not working.

Close Storrow Drive to motor vehicles until DCR can complete a formal study of how to communicate height restrictions more effectively.

This sounds like a great idea:

Close Storrow Drive to motor vehicles

for "on its side" vs. "upright" vs. "wedged at an angle".

To me, a perfect Storrowing would have a peeled roof *and* stuff strewn *and* the truck up on two wheels *and* the truck on its side, but we can't have all of those at once. And that brings me great sadness.

Checklist:

1. Did it happen on Storrow Drive? Check. (This part tends to be ignored nowadays for some reason...but this part is the reason why it's called Storrowing...)
2. Was it a n00b driver who disobeyed warnings about low clearances? Check.
3. Did it cause mass hysteria and chaos? Check.

This, my friends, is a true Storrowing.
