Citizen complaint of the day: Damn bounce house in the middle of the street

An aggrieved citizen filed a 311 complaint at 11:41 a.m. today about the shaky situation on Spring Garden Street in Dorchester:

There is a damn bounce house in the middle of the street.

The crack 311 staff marked it closed at 12:57 p.m.

Case Noted. This street has a street closure permit for a block party.

I like that Dorchester still has plenty of families with kids and the Trenders need to know that. Let the kids play!!

the Trenders need to know that.

Plenty of old timers complain about this stuff too.

Why that person doesn’t get invited to the block parties.

Memorable episode of Malcolm in the Middle when they have to come home from their annual vacation early and find the neighborhood block party going on. An annual tradition that was scheduled to coincide for when they were away.

I used to live on that street. Coincidentally I always had other plans so I didn't have to attend these every year, but I believe this the brainchild of Frank Baker's brother Joe. But they always have BPD barricades up at the end of the street so I'm not sure would cause this person would think the street is open so as to complain about it. But he has really stepped up his game if he's got a bouncy castle now

Oh man, me too. When I was there, from about 2012-2018, we had a bounch house seeral years other years there was a live band. Some folks loved it, some folks swore a lot and took off for the weekend. It was LOUD. I sympathized with the folks that didn't love it, since it wasn't like Joe polled the neighbors or asked if folks enjoyed this/wanted it.

He won't get away...

If this "resident" hadn't known there was a block party or figured it out from the no parking - event signs posted (I presume), then they deserve their dismay.

Moon Walk 4-EVER!

These things blow away sometimes.

I seem to recall a recent case where some kids were seriously injured (and may have died) when an inadequately-secured bounce house "blew away". Pretty terrifying.
