It speaks to the strength of the JP community that this hateful symbol was covered up within hours of it being painted. I walked by the Green St station on the day it was painted, and someone had already completely covered the symbol with their own paint. I'm glad that the community took things into their own hands, rather than waiting for some official MBTA employee to come and take care of it. Hateful symbols have no place here.

I have to walk past the hammer and sickle symbol spray painted on and around the Atherton Street bridge whenever I want to go to Hyde Square. I guess my fellow JP'ers feel that one symbol representing leftist totalitarians who murdered tens of millions of innocents is perfectly fine, whereas another symbol representing right wing totalitarians who murdered tens of millions millions of innocents is not. The hate is equal, the hated are inferior and the haters are reprehensible.

really in danger of a left-wing totalitarian takeover of the US anytime soon, whereas right-wing fascists appear to have plenty of momentum here. Maybe save your consternation for imminent reality, not historical phantoms.

If you see "two groups of psychos" in this exchange, you might need glasses.

objects to a symbol of Stalinist Russia, which we all agree was a terrible, murderous regime. Then a bunch of posters note that the real threat to America is not from some imaginary Commie menace, but loud, proud right-wing fascists and neo-Nazis who are being enabled, brazenly cultivated and sickeningly coddled by the GOP, one of our two major political parties.

So you want to characterize the anti-Nazi take as psychotic? Interesting choice.

Let us know when radical communists plow through demonstrations with their trucks, shoot up schools, mosques, and synagogues, target queer institutions, gun down black people, and advocate for the takeover of the American government. I'm sure the community will prioritize covering up that hammer and sickle too.

Yes, the Soviet Union was a horrible, totalitarian regime which caused millions of deaths, and its legacy is fueling the invasion of Ukraine. Nobody is denying that. But, in this country, right now, Nazis and white supremacists are making their voices heard, committing atrocities, and not seeing enough push-back. When I talk to people who call themselves communists in America, I don't feel threatened. When I talk to Nazis and white supremacists in America, I do.

Tell me you're a white nationalist disphit without telling me you're a white nationalist dipshit.

White supremacists never look that supreme, do they?
