Roxbury motorcycle garage revs up coffee shop

Update: License approved.
The Boston Licensing Board decides tomorrow whether to grant a food-service license to Madhouse Cafe, 24 Blue Hill Ave. in Roxbury, to serve coffee and pastries between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday.
The eight-seat cafe would be next to J. Shia's Madhouse Motors, which repairs motorcycles and builds custom bikes.
At a hearing this morning, Shia said she began serving coffee to customers in one area of the shop, people liked it and she decided to open a formal coffee shop open to the public. She said there are no coffee shops in the immediate area.
Nobody spoke against the proposal during the Zoomed hearing.

We're pretty much looking forward to this; a positive development !
I thought it was already open
They served coffee to people at the Blue Hill Avenue Open Streets event back in August. Seemed like a friendly place, and I wish them great success.
She mentioned she was already serving coffee
But now it's time to get a formal "common victualer's" license.
I've never seen the board reject such a license where there's no opposition and no issues related to the owner's general character, so I'd be willing to go out on a limb and predict she'll get the license tomorrow.
great business
JShia has built a great community around her shop and is breaking barriers while doing so. She's been at it for years and its just an all around cool person! Lots of cities have a similar concept, such at "See-See Motor Coffee" in Portland, Or. I hope the city does the right thing and approves it!
Good
Hope it gets approved. Complete waste of time to put this through any sort of approval or permitting.

Great!
There used to be such a place out in Acton. Glad to see one here in town. Love to see it.
MotoMarket! Was a great place
MotoMarket! Was a great place I used to go to often….
MHM has flown under my radar somehow… happy to support the Motorcyclist community here in Boston.
