Small roof fire at Moderna complex in Norwood didn't affect vaccine production

The Norwood Fire Department reports firefighters responded to an unoccupied building at Moderna's campus for a roof fire around 6 a.m.

Moderna's Technology Center East building, which is currently unoccupied and under construction, is not currently used for vaccine manufacturing or distribution.

The department reports firefighters, with aid from the Westwood Fire Department, were able to contain the fire to the roof. The fire was largely knocked down by 8 a.m. After checking to make sure there were no hot spots from which it could re-start, firefighters left by 8:30.

Moderna uses its Norwood facilities both for vaccine development and production.
