Boston parking ticket with obscene response on a BMW

Roving UHub photographer Jed Hresko came upon this charming message on the back of a BMW parked on Dix Street in Dorchester.

Who thinks highly of themselves? You and your fancy Beemer! Yes you do! Aren't you special!

(Just curious, do we know if that car was currently parked inappropriately?)

...but the driver likes to park in bus stops ($400 in fines) and no stopping zones ($255 in fines) among other things. See: https://twitter.com/bostonplatebot/status/1656670870943973381

Considering what you have to do to get a bus stop ticket. I've seen lots of cars in bus stops, not a lot of tickets!

One ticket this week for an expired plate, then no tickets for almost 3 years prior.

and he forgot to put the 2025 decal on the plate.

That would be his problem, not the city's.

Three sources:

  1. this Woke Windows dataset which contains parking tickets from 2018 - Aug 2020
  2. any currently outstanding parking tickets available from the portal
  3. any parking tickets previously found in #2 that are now closed

I have a FOIA Request currently open with the city to get parking tickets data from 2020 to now.

tl;dr, the only data from 2020 to now is if someone else happened to run @bostonplatebot of the plate between then and now when the plate had an outstanding ticket.

also, where are all these isuzu drivers ?

Raise the fines for repeat violations. Obviously this entitled jerk thinks of fines as just the cost of doing business - when it starts costing $500 a pop, maybe he/she will think twice. Double parking and parking in bus stops makes the streets less safe for everyone.

Who knows how much money this person has and how big a fine they can laugh off. Better to boot or tow the car and force them to spend their ever-so-valuable time getting it back.

shood a meter violation for a nissan be $25; whereas, a bimmeh wood cost $250 (how much shood a koenigsegg be fined) ?

Who stuck that note on? Maybe just someone looking to provoke a reaction in uhub? A lot like the many faux hate graffiti. Just saying

Yes, we were thinking last week how cool it would be to generate page views by pulling an outrageous stunt on some obscure Dorchester street and then photographing it! Sheer genius, nothing could go wrong, we rake in all the big bux, which we then set a match to to light up our victory cigars!

Sleep with one eye open, pal.

Waze put me on Dix Street on my route coming from dropping my daughter at school and heading west to my Dad's house. Waze has put me on that route before.

As I drove up Dix the fluorescent orange obviously stood out and I saw the F-word. Definitely a "what the hell?" moment. I wasn't in a hurry so I pulled over, parked, walked back and took the pic.

For the record, I probably have at least four recent submissions to UHub that Adam did not publish, which is fine with me. When I see something interesting, I err in favor of taking the pic rather than ignoring it; and if it gels with Adam editorially, he publishes it.

The driver ain't wrong.

They are by definition wrong considering they are the one who broke the law.

up

Which is why they racked up so much in tickets.

Don't want tickets? Don't whinge about it like a toddler - JUST DON'T PARK ILLEGALLY.

Beemer = BMW motorcycle
Bimmer = BMW automobile

Not trying to be pedantic, just educational.

possibly care about this but Beamer drivers themselves?

up

Who don’t want to be associated with the BMW automobile drivers.

Was just going to post the same thing.

Nobody in the real world says anything but "Beamer"
....or "a**hole" is just as clear

These are the same people who get big mad about bike lanes and diminishing street parking.

up
Voting closed 2

Maybe, but there's a lot of folks out there (myself included) who want both safer biking AND sufficient parking for area businesses and residents. A lot of parking has been done away with unnecessarily.

up
Voting closed 1

Nope. As much as you tell yourself that. Street space is limited and parked cars take up far too much space. It really is a direct trade off between bike lanes and car parking. See for example Somerville’s recent bike plan where they explicitly justify bike lanes in only one direction on two way streets out of a desire to preserve street parking. It really is a direct trade off so if you had to chose which is it? Should we use road space for safe bike routes that allow and encourage people of all ages and abilities to take a zero emissions mode of travel along with things like protected intersections, raised crosswalks, in lane bus stops, and curb bump outs or should we use road space for public storage of highly emitting private property?

There is a geometry issue when it comes to cars in cities and so as much as you want to say both, you ultimately can’t. So which do you really care about when it comes down to it?

better way to invite more attention from the BPD and BTD?

Does this putz think they're going to be fazed by his little passive-aggressive tantrum, or simply take more delight in citing him again?

up

If I’m ever out of work I’m looking for a job at BTD. Making these losers mad and fining these criminal bums would be satisfying and a positive for the community.

Does it make a difference? How often does a meter maid ignore an illegally parked car, but would notice and ticket it if it had an offensive note on the back? I think they would write tickets if they're going to write them, regardless of the presence of a note.

What's the difference between a BMW and a porcupine?
Well, with a porcupine the pricks are on the outside...

I don't take anyone serious who cannot put on their registration stickers properly.... Why the F all over the plate instead of over the old one??? Inquiring minds want to know! or at least understand the logic.....
