Man arrested down the street from Slade's for murder outside the bar last month

Boston Police report arresting a suspect for the shooting murder of Terrell Banks, 37, outside Slade's Bar and Grill at Tremont and Hammond streets Feb. 18.

Police say homicide detectives arrested Stephen Freeman, 33, at Shawmut Avenue and Hammond Street, just down the street from Slade's, around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Freeman was charged with murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm and assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, police say. Freeman was previously arrested on gun charges in 2020.

A second man who was shot along with Banks survived, police say.
