Medford check-cashing place hit with bomb extortion call

Medford Police report somebody called Raso's Bar and Grille, 209 Mystic Ave., this morning and threatened to blow the place up unless employees put money in a bag for pickup:
On 7/5/23 at 8:50am, we received a 911 call from an employee at 209 Mystic Ave. They received a threat to put money in a bag or face a bomb threat. Police evacuated nearby businesses. State Police Bomb Squad cleared the building, finding no threats. Investigation ongoing.
The Globe reports the business was City Check Cashing.

It's hard to describe what an unlikely target Raso's is. I'd be a lot less surprised by someone bursting in and hitting the cash register.

According to the Globe, the call was to City Check Cashing, which also has a 209 Mystic address.
