Great idea!
Reminds me of Roy's old place.
Terrific idea
This is a terrific idea! It's a win-win situation on all sides.
What a wonderful idea
What a wonderful idea! So good to keep things out of landfills and have people helping people.
Fix It Shop
Fixmasters
The Fixmasters shop in West Roxbury does some of this. Lots of lamps get re-wired. We've had several items where the wiring went bad and he was able to fix them.
New bulbs and old lamps
We have a few older lamps around that we rewired. The nice thing about modern bulbs is that they pull so much less power and give off so much less heat, so you can get more light out of them now without overrunning the capacity of the system.
YouTube is your friend
Washers, dryers, dishwashers, bicycles, H/W heaters, furnaces, ovens, stoves, TVs, lights, switches, etc etc etc
There's always some person out there that's already been there and wants to tell you all about it. Give it a shot.
Obligatory note: Of course, if you don't feel comfortable messing around with that appliance, let someone else do it.
I agree
Definitely a great idea.
