Drinking and driving on trolley tracks don't mix, woman learns

Car on Green Line tracks in Coolidge Corner

Transit Police report arresting a 27-year-old woman they say drove her Camry inbound on the Green Line tracks at Coolidge Corner around 2:30 a.m., then tried to book it down the tracks at "a high rate of speed," only she didn't get very far before the car went off the rails and officers were able to book her on a charge of OUI.

If you're going to drive on the tracks, at least drive on the correct side. She was driving inbound on the outbound tracks!

Few of us can say they've ever derailed a train, but even fewer can say they've ever derailed an automobile.

This is someone who should never be permitted to drive again.

We have normalized insanely dangerous driving. Driving is a privilege - time to start revoking that privilege in many, many cases.

At least the transit police don't blur the car's plates, like some other sites do (e.g. the Waltham Channel).

Hopefully her insurer Liberty Mutual learns of the arrest (plate lookup at https://www.mass.gov/how-to/check-the-status-of-your-vehicle-registration).

… in Boston. It’s in the unofficial Boston Driver’s Guide to Entitlement. Don't confuse them. They will road rage on you.

I do hope this woman is able to get her life...on track.

If she isn't railroaded in court. Might depend on what kind of ties she has.
