Hey, New York, you know who has the best bagels? Not you

So there's this annual event called New York Bagelfest and they always pick a "best of the fest" bagel and this year, the award went to Bagelsaurus, which New Yorkers will have to take Acela and then the Red Line to try in the wild.

I can't personally eat their bagel because of the ingredients not meshing with my personally dietary needs but I've heard great things and the line is always down the street. This surely will push those lines even deeper down the street.

Although as someone from Chelsea I'm contractually obligated to declare a love for Katz Bagel in Chelsea anytime the word bagel is mentioned.

Although I'm not sure I'd rate them "the best".

Growing up in the NY/NJ area, what I really miss is a real bialy. Like many Jewish households of the area, that was the breakfast staple in the my house growing up. (With lox on the weekend.)

You can't get real bialys outside of NYC. Sometimes you see something with the same word but it shares no similarities apart from being round. And real bialys are rarely perfectly round anyway.

"You can't get real bialys outside of NYC."

And there are no real Scotsmen outside of Scotland.

Have you tried Mamaleh's? I can't really compare as they are the only bialys I've had, but they are objectively great.

(I'd put their bagels up against Bagelsaurus, too — I love them both, though.)

Meh, they won "Best of the Fest" which includes a whole lot of non-bagel categories like presentation and overall creativity.

Utopia bagel in Queens won Best Bagel in a blind tasting.

They won the top award of the festival, they are listed as both the People's Choice and the Expert's Choice, and the award itself is always listed first, above Best Bagel, as the flagship award of the festival, so take your "meh" elsewhere.

Still a toss-up whether it's faster for me to wait on line at Bagelsaurus or Drive to NYC and back.

But my sons swear by Bagelsaurus.

Is the best. Congratulations on the well-deserved recognition.

Nothing like an Iggy’s bagel on a beautiful day -no matter the weather (though sunny and fair is a preferred type of beautiful)- setting off on a bike ride.
