Hyde Park cafe to close doors
By adamg on Thu, 01/18/2024 - 11:22pm
Coffee Break Cafe, 680 Truman Parkway in Hyde Park, announced tonight it will serve its last cup at 3 p.m. on Jan. 27.
The cafe opened six years ago in space vacated by Bean & Cream, which itself closed six years after it opened.
Coffee Break Cafe locations in Quincy and Milton will remain open.
Not including Dunkin' Donuts, the closure will leave the neighborhood with just one cafe - the recently opened Starbucks at 850 River St..

Starbucks is not a cafe
Starbucks is a coffee distribution facility.

What about Essence of Thyme
I’ve never been, but I’ve seen it just outside Cleary Square.
One more cafe (maybe)
I haven't been in, but I've been by the Essence of Thyme Cafe enough times to know it's a thing. How much of a coffee shop it is I do not know.
Oh, will have to check it out
I always thought it was more of a gift store with sandwiches, but have never actually been in - and they do have "cafe" right in their name.
I believe it's a gift shop
I don't think it's a coffee shop but more of a gift shop and possibly a caterer that isn't open outside of limited business hours. I go to this Coffee Break quite a bit, had a meeting there today infact.
That spot is a challenge for retailers due to the lack of parking but Coffee Beak seemed to be doing well.
The 2 Dunkin Donuts in HP are really hard to compete with, even the HP Starbucks isn't doing great and has reduced their hours.
Hopefully the next business does as well as Coffee Break did !
Three Dunk's
As I learned when I wrote about how the one on Hyde Park Avenue near the police station was closing for renovations and foretold a crisis because that would mean a 4-mile gap between the Dunk's in Wolcott Square and the one in Forest Hills and people promptly alerted me to the Dunk's in the America's Food Basket strip mall a half mile up from the Hyde Park Avenue one I was concerned about.
You can go to Milton or
You can go to Milton or Quincy to check it out. It is a small chain. Mainly in Quincy but Milton as well.
