Boston.com reports police say a man who was standing on the sidewalk in front of the Emporium gas station and car wash on Washington Street in Roslindale "inexplicably" ran into the street around 5:30 p.m. on Monday and was hit by a 30 bus.
Glad his injuries are not life threatening. It could have been worse.
Still a teenager.
And your point is?
Yes, I'm glad the kid wasn't injured worse, but let's be clear. He darted out in front of a bus. The bus even swerved to avoid him- I walked by the scene after it happened but before EMS showed up and saw the bus over the yellow line.
Sometimes I take risks while out. I never press the walk button at Ukraine Way a short distance away, working the light sequence to my advantage. Runners always look for a quick way across the street. That said, I pay attention and never run in front of a vehicle that's moving. Learned that when I was 5 years old.
I wouldn't be surprised if this were a suicide attempt, given that he darted out suddenly straight into the path of a bus. My thoughts are also with the bus driver - it's traumatic hitting someone when you're in a situation where it's impossible to foresee or avoid it.
