Stupid effin' college students

Jef Taylor seems one of the mildest-mannered bloggers out there - his posts are usually about interesting flora and fauna he runs across along the Muddy River, photos of rocks he's precariously piled atop each other and the like. But he's had enough:

Okay you hip young people in your dark colored winter coats darting into the street willy-nilly: Please keep in mind that the cars surging toward you have fogged/iced windows, and that the street is slippery and braking may not save you. Please show the slightest bit of self-preservation, if not for your own stupid life, to keep me from having a heart atack.

Lazy-eyed limper sought for West Roxbury gas-station holdup

Last week was not a good one for the US Petroleum station at 1465 VFW Parkway. First, the place was held up by a nervous blond woman with a gun who'd failed to hold up two other local businesses. Then, the very next night, the station was held up again, this time by a less nervous blond man with a gun, "a lazy right eye" and a limp, Wicked Local Roslindale reports.

Why did the chicken cross Beacon Street?

BWAK!

Is that woman flipping him the bird?

Flush with the success of their effort to completely bollix up the turnpike by paying tolls in pennies (oh, wait, that didn't work too well, did it?), the Stop the Pike Hike people are now having a guy in a chicken suit follow Deval Patrick around until he agrees to a debate on the merits of KFC vs. Burger King the proposed massive turnpike toll hike. He is shown here waiting for Patrick to exit the State House.

It seemed a little quiet at the Washington Irving Middle School

Wicked Local Roslindale reports a student at the Roslindale middle school was arrested on Dec. 10 after he allegedly began walking around the lunchroom showing off "a 4 1/2-inch double bladed knife" and threatening to "get" another student after school.

An empty mall

Dave Daniels posts photos of an almost completely empty Cambridgeside Galleria the Saturday after Thanksgiving:

... It was totally DEAD in there. Totally. Dead. We were in there wandering around for almost an hour before we saw another person in there, and that included some of the staff at a few stores. ...
