Alleged dumbass learns valuable lesson at Dorchester Dunkin' Donuts

That being: If you rip some gizmo out of the dashboard of a car in the parking lot, don't go into the Dunk's and start asking people what it is, because the woman whose car you just broke into might enlist some belp to grab you and hold you until the cops arrive (third item):

On arrival, officers observed the suspect on the ground with the victim and a witness standing over him. As officers approached the group, the suspect started yelling that he thought the car was abandoned and that’s why he took the items from the car.

Innocent, etc.

Cops: Cabbie head butted in the face by guy upset with fare

Boston Police report on a cab ride that didn't end well around 3:40 this morning at 250 Moss Hill Rd. in Jamaica Plain:

The victim reported to officers that he picked up the suspect and his girlfriend at a downtown bar, and drove them to 250 Moss Hill Road. Lit stove sparks heated confrontation that ends in arrest

Boston Police report arresting a Beacon Hill man who allegedly pointed a double-barrel shotgun at his roommate as part of an ongoing argument over a stove that had been left on. Officers responded to 52 Joy St. around 1:30 this morning:

On arrival, officers met with a victim who told them that her roommate had threatened her with a shotgun. Officers then learned that the suspect and victim who are roommates had argued earlier about a stove being left on. The suspect apparently became very angry over the incident and when the victim came home she was threatened by the suspect with a firearm as she attempted to enter her apartment.

Police say they managed to get the shotgun away from Mark P. Fox, 28 - and later uncovered "numerous rounds of ammunition." Fox was charged with assault by means of a dangerous weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition.

Innocent, etc.

How to improve City Hall short of just blowing it up

So, you read recently about light-transmitting concrete?

... Filled with optical fibers that run from one end of a poured piece of concrete to the other, these prefabricated blocks and panels effectively transmit light from one side to the other. Colors and light remain remarkably consistent from end to end, but with a natural variation from the pouring process that actually softens the effects considerably. ...

On archBoston, Lurker comes up with a great plan for this new material:

Maybe they should try using this stuff to replicate the geometry while replacing some of the existing surfaces at City Hall?

Egress stairs and fire doors made of concrete could open up a world of day-lighting possibilities.

That's commitment

Hannah signed on for a challenge with her yoga class, and this morning, she had to confront that challenge:

... Not a single cell in my body wanted to go to yoga this morning. The muscles across my upper back pulled sharply when I lifted my arms to tie my hair up into a ponytail. My knees showed thin, pink cracks running across them, as though I swept a razor carelessly and thoughtlessly across that tender patch of skin. My shoulders cracked like walnuts. Even my cheeks wore weary creases. ...

MIT cop arrested on drug charges in East Boston

D'AmelioCity, state and federal agents today arrested an MIT police officer after watching him get out of his cruiser and take delivery of a package stuffed with OxyContin and Roxycodone tablets, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney's office.

Joseph D'Amelio, 38, was arrested, while still in uniform, around 6 p.m. at Advanced Automotive on London Street, the DA's office says, adding officials were alerted by FedEx workers who had opened what they thought was a suspicious package. The package contained 340 80-mg Oxycontin tablets and a number of 30-mg Roxycodone tablets, officials say.

Also arrested: Anthony Cristallo, 39, of Derry, NH. In addition to the drugs, officials seized $12,000 in cash.

Both men will be arraigned Monday in East Boston District Court on chages of trafficking in more than 100 grams of OxyContin, which could get them 20 years in prison.

Innocent, etc.
