Track is whack at Packards Corner, so the T is hauling B Line passengers between there and Washington Street by bus. On the Red Line, there's a dead train just moldering somewhere on the tracks between JFK/UMass and Braintree.

Pedestrian plaza proposed for Harvard/Comm intersection

The City of Boston Public Works Department last night presented new plans for the reconstruction of Commonwealth Avenue between Brighton Avenue (Packards Corner) and Warren/Kelton Streets.

To create space for wider sidewalks and dedicated space for people biking, it was proposed that left-side angled parking be removed from the carriage road and any remaining angled parking be reconfigured to parallel parking along the curb. Read more.

Packard's Corner Trolleys 1940's

Tim Murphy gives us a look at Packards Corner in the 1940s, when you could still take a trolley from downtown to Watertown Square, back in pre-MBTA days.

Imagine how bad this area would be today if there were still no traffic lights?!

Around 9:25 p.m., somebody drove onto the B Line tracks at Brighton and Commonwealth avenues and then didn't move anymore.

Service is now halted until the T can get a tow truck to pull the car off the tracks.

This car.

UPDATE: An MBTA spokesman reports: "There was no damage to the tracks. No injuries. The auto was towed away, and trolley service resumed. It's unclear how this atom-splitter ended up on the Green Line tracks.

Police, however, did not buy his story any more than the woman who followed him off the train and held him until the law arrived after she got a glimpse of his junk.

Michael Galvin, 37, of Somerville, was arrested on a charge of open and gross lewdness for an incident on an outbound B trolley around 6:40 p.m. yesterday.

According to police, he exposed his penis to a woman as the trolley approached Packard's Corner:

Where's the hydrant?

Cynicallife reports she parked on Comm. Ave. in Packard's Corner Thursday, fed the meter and then when she came out, found a $100 ticket for parking in front of a hydrant. Can you find Waldo, um, the hydrant, in the photo above? Obviously, it was clear as day to a passing meter maid. Here's the view from the sidewalk:

Hydrant cap

She's not a happy camper:

Good job, city of Boston. Why bother digging out a hydrant or even attaching a flag to make it visible to, ohidon'tknow, firefighters ~ much less regular folks like me ~ when you can leave them buried and ticket people for not seeing them instead?

Milk

Graham watched in amazement as a guy wheeled up to the register at the Packard's Corner Shaw's tonight with 18 gallons of milk, 8 each of whole and 2%, one each of skim and 1%. Plus, of course, toilet paper. He adds:

BU Police report that a man sought for knocking a woman down and stealing her phone on Saturday may also be responsible for another holdup around the corner on July 9.

While I was out picking up some food early Saturday morning, I heard two people outside of the Shaw's at Packard's Corner in Allston discussing the speed limit on Comm. Ave. The discussion centered around whether 6 mph was too slow for traffic or not. This seemed like a crazy discussion so I turned to see where they were pointing...
