UPDATE: Hollaback! Boston reports the guy on the banner is actually not Dov Charney but Dov Charney's grandfather - who just happens to look just like Charney looked like in his 20s:

We want to apologize for jumping the gun in this particular case, but we appreciate the outpouring of support for our work to create safe public spaces in Boston and throughout New England. Some campaigns, like our current MBTA ads, are years in the making; others come up in a flash, and we respond as best we can, as quickly as possible, in support of those who share their stories with us. In this case, we got it wrong.

The Boston Licensing Board yesterday gave UrbanMeritage until October to find somebody to use the liquor license at the old Ciao Bella, 240A Newbury St., that previous owner Joseph Cimino had sat on for years as he tried finishing up what turned into a money pit of a renovation project that is still not done.

Separately, the board last week granted Restoration Hardware another three months to do something with the liquor license it has never used at its Boylston Street location.

A worker at Dirty Water Dough, 222 Newbury Street, suffered burns on his face and hands when one of the eatery's four ovens exploded this morning.

BFD spokesman Steve MacDonald reports:

They had four ovens. Three were on with the fourth - gas on but pilot light out. It built up with gas and fumes then came in contact with oven above it causing the built up gas to ignite all at once.

The explosion also blew out some of the restaurant's plate glass windows and cracked others, he said, adding nobody thought to notify the fire department until the building inspector arrived.

The Boston Licensing Board today gave Trident Booksellers and Cafe, 338 Newbury St., permission to stay open until midnight.

Michael Lemanski, general manager of one of Boston's dwindling number of bookstores, said customers had been asking for an extra hour of time in which to enjoy the literary alternative to a traditional bar or pub.

He told the board at a hearing Wednesday the revenue from the extra hour will also help Trident, open since 1984, stay in business. He cited health care as an example of a cost it has been struggling with.

UPDATE: Licensing Board ordered a four-day suspension: Three for serving the minors, one for owner Joseph Cimino's actions during the police investigation. Cimino can appeal to the state Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission.

It was bad enough, police say, that they caught four underage Northeastern students inside Daisy Buchanan's with Bud Lights. Even worse was that owner Joseph Cimino tried to keep them from questioning one of the four - after he had already tried to flee out the back - two detectives told the Boston Licensing Board yesterday
