State officials say the Callahan Tunnel should open round about 5 a.m. Monday morning, which will begin to restore karma to Boston traffic and eventually end those mysterious clumps of state troopers along Rte. 16.
However, late-night drivers can expect some delays elsewhere along I-93 for the rest of the week as MassDOT gets the mighty highway back into fighting form:
Most notably, the effort requires the closure of Exit 24/Gov’t Center on I-93 Southbound on Sunday night into Monday morning and the complete closure of I-93 Southbound through Boston overnight Tuesday into Wednesday.

A Russian national who was picked up for drunken loutishness in Louisburg Square while allegedly trying to take photos of John Kerry's house last summer now faces child porn charges as well - due to an investigation into allegedly threatening comments he made following his arrest.
Vladimir Romanov, 30, currently living in Brighton, was arraigned this morning in Boston Municipal Court on six counts of possession of child pornography, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports, adding he was indicted on the charges by a Suffolk County grand jury last week.

Disgusting trash. 15 Irving Street rents to college kids who constantly put trash out on wrong days and not in secure bags. Rats constantly get into and tear apart their trash.

The Globe updates us on efforts to get handicap ramps and bumpy warning strips installed in the toniest of Boston's neighborhoods:
[T]he plan was rejected in December by officials of the Beacon Hill Architectural Commission, who complained about the materials proposed and said the bumpy plastic strips would mar the neighborhood’s Colonial-era character.
Yes, they would seriously detract from the hundreds of colonial automobiles parked on colonial asphalt underneath all those colonial Resident Parking signs when their drivers (garbed in breeches, no doubt) aren't busy stopping for colonial traffic signals and colonial stop signs.

The Unitarian Universalist Association, based in Boston, today unveiled a new logo, as part of an overall branding strategy (yes, of course churches these days have branding strategies):
Our new logo, for many, will be the first introduction to who we are. It’s meant to entice a person to learn more. And it’s doing just that. Our random testing groups of UUs and non-UUs described emotions and images evoked by this logo with words such as brave, enlightening, warm, spiritual, energizing, having integrity, welcoming and determined.

Anthony Williams pleaded guilty to aggravated rape and kidnapping today and was sentenced to 18 to 22 years in state prison, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.
Williams admitted in Suffolk Superior Court that early on Nov. 10, 2012, he forced his way into an apartment at Joy and Myrtle streets, then raped its occupant and robbed her.
Williams had previously been convicted of a 1996 rape in Salem.

Death pointed a bony finger at an inbound Red Line train at Charles/MGH shortly before 4 p.m. A trolley on the C Line departed this mortal coil before it could get to Cleveland Circle.

Bowdoin Street on Beacon Hill remains shut tonight as workers try to repair the damage done by yesterday's water main break.
In addition to the burst main, workers also have to repair a road that buckled under the force of raging mini-torrent that rushed down to Cambridge Street.

Another water main burst this afternoon, this time under Bowdoin Street on Beacon Hill, buckling the roadway and sending a flood down the hill onto Cambridge Street, which had to be shut as well. At least this time, no bus or truck got eaten.
Brian D'Amico, who took the video, also posted photos of the watery mess.

Boston Police report a local man gained entrance to North River Outfitters, 124 Charles St., shortly before 2 a.m. by throwing a series of bricks at its front window until it shattered.
