Wicked Local Brookline reports the owners of the sprawling Hancock Village project, which straddles the Boston/Brookline line, have begun looking at ways to expand:

... One of the juiciest rumors is that Chestnut Hill Realty is planning to build a high-rise building on the site, which is currently home to squat two-story brick homes. Asked about the rumor, Geller and Zuker said they hadn't ruled out a high-rise development — if it makes sense for the community. ...

Brookline Police report a Hammond Pond Parkway resident awoke yesterday morning to find "the front bumper [of his car] was missing which contained the fog lights and headlights."

Meanwhile, Jose Anes discusses the art of Masshole parking, in which people see bumpers as an excuse for parking like, well, Massholes:

... A young, white, well dressed lady (as in expensive) just got out of the establishment, entered her brand new Audi. I saw an opportunity to grab this coveted parking spot. Then, without any respect for her parking-mate she backs up into the car parked right behind her and BAM!! She pushed the car behind her just enough to make some space, turn her wheels and get out of there. There was even plenty of space to make an elegant exit had she tried to move back and forth a few times, which can suggest that maybe she did it out of laziness or lack of respect of other’s property. ...

The Globe reports a Brookline man tried to extract money from 21 restaurants by claiming he broke a tooth biting on a rock or glass while eating their food.

The root problem, the Globe tells us, is that the guy used a tooth he actually broke in 2002 to try to drill the restaurants. Acting on a report from an insurance investigator, the state Attorney General's office put the bite on the man, charging him with a mouthful of fraud and larceny counts in Suffolk Superior Court. A couple of restaurants did brush him off, however.

Police are looking for a guy who has hit the CVS at 900 Commonwealth Ave. twice in the past month. The first time, he shoplifted more than $500 worth of merchandise, including Oral B electric-toothbrush refills and Rogaine Foam. The second time, he got away with $280 worth of Crest White Strips and more Rogaine. He's in his mid-20's, about 5'7" and wears a knit cap (to hide his bald spot?).

Brookline Police report somebody was peeping into a Beacon Street apartment last month - and that last week, they arrested a guy for doing that after climbing up a fire escape on Boylston Street (Rte. 9):

The police would like to advise citizens to keep their blinds down and if they see any suspicious activity such as this to call the police and stay on the line until they get there.

Police also report on a bit of aggressive/passive parking-space activity down in Hancock Village sometime Sunday night or Monday morning:

Victim reports that when they went to park in their assigned spot there was already a vehicle parked there. The victim parked in the spot next to that one. When the victim returned to the vehicle the next morning there was a note stating not to park in other people's spots, along with multiple scratches to his passenger door.

So, I had my magistrate hearing for my scooter problem from back in September. I posted the details and result of today's hearing in response to the original post, but I wasn't sure how many people would see it using the "Most recent posts" as opposed to the story list and I know that many were interested to hear how it all turned out.

Riggs reports on a crazed Christian trying to win Jews over to her side outside Temple Ohabei Shalom on Beacon Street the other day:

"Do you know about our Lord, Jesus Christ, Saviour of the nations?"

Er ....... I'm all set, thanks. She doesn't give up so easily. My mouth says no, her ears hear GO! I keep walking, a bit faster now since she's physically touching my jacket. Her crazed eyes bugging out and peeping at me as she preaches.
