The MBTA says it's resuming Red Line service to Alewife starting tomorrow - but that the trains will only be reachable via the Russell Field entrance, about a two-minute walk from the garage, where somebody rammed out a five-ton concrete barrier that fell onto large windows overlooking the main station entrance, which remains shut. The MBTA reports delays of up to 15 minutes on the Green Line due to some sort of switch problem at Lechmere, you know, the brand-new Lechmere that's the linchpin of the brand-new Green Line Extension, not some superannuated Orange Line station somewhere. Read more.

Updated with new shutdown time.

The MBTA reports workers overnight removed the five-ton concrete barrier a guy in a Civic knocked loose from the Alewife parking garage yesterday but that the station will remain shut until engineers can figure out how to create a safe passageway from outside to the fare gates - which could take the rest of the week. Crashed car

The MBTA reports Alewife station is closed "due to an auto accident with the building structure." The Cambridge Fire Department reports the driver of a car on the top garage level slammed into a wall - intentionally, Transit Police say. Read more.

A senior technology officer at the Lexington-based US branch of Takeda Pharmaceuticals and her boyfriend were arrested Wednesday for allegedly setting up a fake consulting company that then billed Takeda for services it never actually provided. Read more.

Cambridge Police report two people were shot shortly after 8:15 p.m. on Washington Street near Windsor Street. Both were taken to local hospitals.

Preliminary information indicates that the victims were shot while sitting inside a car. The car was damaged and a number of casings have been recovered. At this time, the injuries to the victims are serious, but not believed to be life-threatening.

A Cambridge police officer fatally shot a local man police say was advancing on him and other officers with a large knife after leading them on a foot chase for several blocks and after a "less lethal" projectile failed to stop him, Cambridge Police say. Read more.

Wanted for Red Line window smashery

Transit Police report they are looking for an alleged yutz who, on leaving a Red Line train at Kendall/MIT around 7:30 p.m. yesterday, punched a train window, causing a spider crack that force the T to take the train out of service, in case you were wondering why service was even a bit slower than usual yesterday evening.

Pfizer and its German partner today filed a counter claim against Moderna's patent-infringement suit over Covid-19 vaccines, saying that not only didn't they use Moderna's patented technology to develop their own Covid-19 vaccine, they're not a bunch of greedy money-grubbers seeking to re-write the history of mRNA technology - which they say started long before Moderna even existed.
