Giuliani poses with candidate in the North End

Doug Bennett reports he was jogging through the North End today when he spotted a crowd on Hanover Street and before he knew it, there he was posing for a photo with Rudy Giuliani, shortly before Giuliani crossed the street to stoke up a cigar. And, yes, Bennett is a candidate. He tells Universal Hub exclusively he's already getting ready to knock on more doors in 2011, when he plans to run again for an at-large seat on the Boston city council.

he had a long rap street of criminal behavior before he ran for city council, including being arrested for a hate crime, and his behavior continued while he ran.

all i can say is, thank god for scott brown because bennett gives us republicans a bad name.

"...jogging through the North End..." wearing a button down shirt? Dude, just call it a photo-op and leave it at that. We'll still be impressed - it's Giuliani for gosh sakes!

I can't tell you the last time Doug Bennett did something and I wasn't impressed.

I think the real travesty here is the way adam diluted the account of this rising conservative star. If Rotary Doug reported it, let's here it from the horse's ass, I mean mouth.

um... I think your comment either was so laden with sarcasm or was so left field that many people didn't understand it....

your first sentence: "I can't tell you the last time Doug Bennett did something and I wasn't impressed."... really means that you CAN remember when Doug Bennett did something and you WERE impressed... is this what you meant? Cause that's what you said in a very unclear manner....

are you a supporter or you against this 'white-collar-shirted' jogger/local politician?

I think its pretty clear he's in support, he's saying that adam just made fun of this guy when he's actually someone to watch because he's a "rising conservative star".

both of you really need to become more familiar with Doug Bennett... I don't know how to put this, but he's kind of a big deal. People know him. He's very important. He has many leather bound books and his apartment smells of rich mahogany.

I'm going to move to Boston just to vote for his opponent. Any friend of Rudy "9/11, 9/11, 9/11, Oh did I mention 9/11" Giuliani is an enemy of mine. I don't even like Martha Coakley but if Scott Brown stands with Rudy "Fearmonger" Giuliani, then I stand in opposition

Is this the same Rudy "9/11" Giuliani who said last week that "We had no domestic attacks under Bush..."?

See, somebody told the Man from Nantucket that "jogging" means "to run slowly, as a habit."

That's right... Bennett will run until wins... He will not stop. He is that tenacious. He will never stop.

I have no idea what Bennett's political views are and I don't care (does it really matter what "ism" a person is on the local level any way?") I'll say this for the kid- he is outgoing. Shoves his hand in everyone's face to introduce himself (which he has done to me at least twice). But, and this is just squarely my opinion, I think he ain't "all there". I can't put my finger on it- but you know the feeling you get after you been talking to someone you don't know for a while- that feeling that says to you "is this person all there?" That is the feeling I get about Bennett. Nice kid- just wonder if a screw needs tightening though. Not saying he is nuts- just maybe a med prescription shy of normality.

So that must mean b/c Obama's outgoing and shakes peoples' hands, he must be crazy. Or maybe like you said, you just don't know Bennett.

It ain't the handshaking. You expect that from any aspiring politico. And I admire the moxie it takes to do that all the time with people you don't know. It's the brief conversations after that. I don't know- his mannerisms seem awkward to me- that's all- something I can't exactly spell out. Not sure I'd vote for him but still- overall - he seems like a nice enough kid. Maybe too nice for politics in this town. If they ain't a little dirty then they ain't "down" with whats really going on and can't look out for your interests. If I'm gonna give a grand to a city councilman's campaign coffer its gonna be to someone who understands what's what and doesn't need Quid Pro Quo translated for him. I think this Bennett kid would take my grand and then look at me with big dumb doe eyes when the time comes for my quo from his quid.

So I guess you just support dirty politicians like Wilkerson, and you have to take bribes in order to be "down" with what goes on in politics. Maybe that's the problem...
