Morning commute could be a mess

MORNING UPDATE: The Muddy River dropped below flood stage overnight (graph), so it looks like Riverside service is back. But looks like the Red Line between Ashmont and Fields Corner has been knocked out by flooding. Also, the main road through Franklin Park is shut, mhowardkarp reports.

In general, of course, but more specifically at:

Rte. 128 southbound to Winter Street in Waltham: MassDOT reports flooding on Winter Street has forced the closure of the exit ramp, which could mean a nightmare for folks trying to get to business parks off that exit.

Rte. 2 eastbound to Alewife station: Ditto.

Green Line, Reservoir to Kenmore: Buses instead of trains due to Muddy River flooding near Kenmore.

According to the T site, the green line is back up and running? Although I'm not sure why since the rain hasn't stopped yet.

Red line was slow this morning - still busing ashmont-fields, which means fewer trains in the central subway.

Main st in Kendall square awful flooded though.

The Lowell Sun just tweeted (with link to article) that flooding has closed the Wilmington commuter rail station.

Both the Mystic and the Charles were nearly up to zero headspace under the bridges. I can't think of a time when I have ever seen the Charles running that high.

All we need is a little sea level rise with that storm surge and heavy rains to make this truly interesting.

Riverside service was definitely back up this morning, however it was raining inside the tunnel at Kenmore (the tunnel where the C & D enter). The Green was fine until just outside of Boylston. Right before I got to Kenmore, I checked the service alerts on my phone, which indicated a disabled train, and was confirmed by the station announcement. Right before we got to Boylston though the conductor said there was a medical emergency at park, and we waited in the tunnel for maybe 10 minutes. There was an ambulance at Park...so it looks like the disabled train has cleared up, and the medical emergency seems over, so hopefully nothing new will crop up!!

The 57 bus was totally fine, albeit really, really wet.

As of about 9:30 AM or so Monday, Riverside line is out again between Fenway and Kenmore so they can block the portal again as the river rises again. Trains are still coming in as far as Fenway from Riverside and then turning back. It looks like they won't extend the bus shuttle all the way to Reservoir unless/until the water actually starts to cover the rails near Fenway station.

The 57 bus was running at about a 10-15 minute delay according to the website (which I checked before heading out to catch it this morning) which is just funny since it runs on a 5 minute headway...unless it means every bus is delayed 15 minutes more than the last...which would just be weird.

No, my biggest problem with this morning commute was the 64 driver who was not only late for the start of her route (I catch it at Union Square in the mornings after getting off the 57) but here's the kicker:

When we (more than just me wanted to get off) rang the bell for our stop at Putnam & Allston St in Cambridge...the sign said "Stop Requested" and the driver just made the turn onto Putnam and kept on going all the way to the next stop at Magazine St and Putnam....adding an extra 5+ blocks to my walk to work in this weather. Awesome.

No wonder the MBTA needs more bus drivers...the ones they have can't even figure out where they're supposed to stop.

are running via the Reading line due to flooding near Wilmington station and on the Wildcat Branch. Add an earlier disabled train (that had to be pushed into Boston by the following train) in the mix, and it's making for an interesting morning on the commuter rail.
