What better place to celebrate Spain's victory than in the Christian Science reflecting pool?

"Where are the police?" indeed. Pinche hooligans!

Good for them. Bummer for the Dutch. But that sloppy game was a let down after all the good games leading up to it.

bouncing people out of the reflecting pool. Isn't reflecting pool water used to cool the buildings?

The Church and the Publishing Society have moved out of both the tower and the long colonnade building. I think Northeastern University is now the colonnade's main occupant.

The church still owns the property. It just leases space to others.

That was more of a scrappy game than a sloppy one. I wonder
if that guy Alonso has cleat marks on his chest this morning.

My expectations before the game were that Holland would play a filthy game, have a man sent off, and Spain would score after for a 1-0 win.

I expected the man sent off to be Von Bummer, though, and I was figuring on a goal somewhere near 82 minutes. Von Bummer took down Iniesta with dirty tackles so many times he could easily have gotten a red, though de Jerk's foul was the worst and most flagrant in the game, and it was really unusual he didn't get a red card for it. It's worth watching again just to notice how very far from an attempt to hit the ball that was - several feet low and late to boot. I think at that point the ref was hoping that the Dutch would settle down and start playing the game once they all had yellows. No such luck.

The Dutch were outplayed by the better team. The only strategy they had was to try to physically hurt the smaller Spanish, and win by attrition. If there are a few yellow cards, you could call it an accident. When every single player on the field except for the goalkeeper and the strikers have yellow cards, you have to call that a strategy. Even their attempts at mayhem didn't help them in the end, though, and they went down with the only record they deserve: dirtiest side ever to play in a world cup final.

That happened after Obama won the presidency too. It seems like whenever there is a call for celebration, the CSC pool is the place to do it.
