T to roll out guaranteed parking spots at Braintree and cut prices at unpopular lots

The MBTA says that starting July 1, it will start offering "premium" parking spaces for $200 a month at the Braintree Red Line stop that will give purchasers guaranteed spots near the station entrance.
The new program, similar to one at Logan Airport, is experimental, but could be expanded if successful, the T says.
Also starting July 1, the T is cutting the price of parking at underused lots to $3 a day or $60 a month: Kingston, Halifax, Campello, Fairmount, Hyde Park, Newburyport and Lynn on commuter rail and Butler, Milton and Mattapan on the Mattapan Line.
Also starting then, higher fines for people who don't pay their daily parking fees - from $1 to $21. Also, the Registry of Motor Vehicles will be notified, so scofflaws will have to pay up before they can renew their car registrations.

Makes sense
It looks like monthly parking at Braintree is $140 so why not give it a shot, especially since it doesn't cost anything. Hopefully they monitor the numbers against ridership so any increases don't discourage ridership.

Good. Flat rate parking makes no sense, pricing should be controlled by supply and demand. Alewife should also get guaranteed spacing, because it always fills up, and the MBTA people dont seem to realize they can add 2 floors.
And seriously, the fee for not paying was $1? So it was cheaper to note pay?

The $1 fee was for failure to pay in advance, and it was on top of the regular parking fee. They check the slot boxes every day, so you'd never get away with not paying, at least during the day on weekdays. If you still didn't pay, there were more consequences.
BUTLER
there is no parking at Butler now so how are they going to reduce the rates. Can they guarantee my car will not be broken into when i return

Your post makes no sense. The T has nothing to do with your parking situation and you pay accordingly.

If you go to the MBTA website parking at Butler street is free so they are going to reduce the rate to three dollars a day. FUZZY math T- style.
I have also had my car vandalized at Alewife and had to pay full price to exit, what a system.
Premium Parking started on June 1st
Premium parking in Braintree started on June 1st. They will be replacing the 44 pay in advance spots which cost $7 a day. So far they have replaced 6 of the 44 pay in advance spots. They handed out flyers 3 times and placed flyers on windshields 3 more times. I along with 12 others were towed from the 6 spots that day. Reason I parked there is, these spots have been in pay in advance for as long I can remember and the Pay in advance box slot for my spot was still open and with no explanation of Premium Parking, I thought I was fine.
Last week Richard Davey got me in contact with the Director of Real Estate to answer my questions about it. He was unable to answer basic questions and I didn't hear back from him this week. The email thread got long and lost focus so I created the following blog last weekend to organize my main issues with my experience. Sorry for linking from your blog, but the July 1st start date caught my eye.
