Oh, Doug

Gin Dumcius tweets from Dorchester:

So either some Dorchester homes are split between O'Toole and Bennett, or Bennett is jamming signs into lawns w/o asking. Again.

Last time around it was stickers.

Houses could be split because multi-family or roommates.

Another possibility is an opponent doing it for backlash against Bennett. Like middle-of-the-night robo-calling, pretending to be your opponent.

Completely plausible Bennett is doing it, since he has a history, and he certainly seems dumb enough.

Private property? That's worse than public property. There might also be a civil liberties angle: signs in support of politicians are political speech we protect, and absence of signs is also within rights of speech, so what does it mean when a politician comes along and takes away this free speech?

The only Veteran on the ballot. Leave him alone.

Doug has a wild imagination and while he likes to say he is the only Vet, candidate MARYDITH TUITT is also a Veteran.

Saw a man with a big stack of signs crossing Gallivan yesterday so I think it's spamming. It seems unlikely that Bennett had so many sign request on that street he needed to send out a guy to plant dozens of them. The sign planter wasn't Doug himself so that's something.

Oh and I fully expect Doug to create a fake account or anon posting to attack me. Last time this came up a mysterious troll posted my age, name and address for daring to speak ill of the carpetbagger from the Cape.

To the uninitiated these pranks may seem like the root of our problems at the national level. But its ever clearer to me that democracy lives and thrives in good ol' Dorchester. Thank goodness for every aspect of Boston politics and how, in ways from silly to august - it involves us the process. Its in places where electoral contests have become dull and exclusive that the Teabaggers and Haters gain control. Now . . . if we can just get mayoral term limits, Boston will be truly be back on the block!
