Rockin' a box

The World's Most Boring Tourist Attraction will be put in a box while the portico surrounding it is repaired. A suggestion: Paint a picture of the rock on the outside of the box. Nobody will even notice.

How long before some enterprising person creates a parody-of-a-parody video called "Rock In A Box"? Not too long, I hope. (link is perhaps NSFW)

Maybe it could be commissioned by the Park Service to play at the site while the real rock is concealed.

That's funny, I thought they would have had some old fossil cover it.

What an ignious idea! Then again, an old fossil might turn out to be a bit erratic.

You'd have a tuff time taking that old rock for granite.

You might be accused of a basalt on American values!

Sounds like they're full of schist.

Plymouth town officials are hoping that renovations will boulder local tourism.

It happened in the seventies, of course.

Darn, I was about to bring those up. Here's a picture for those who are too young to remember:

When Berlin was fixing up the Brandenburg Gate, a DSL company bought the ad space on the outside of the repair curtain. They made it seem as if the gate (like their company) was a gateway onto the world and through the painted pillars in the ad, you see the Eiffel Tower, etc. Pretty witty ad and it's the kind of thing they should do here too.

Paint the outside of the box with not only a mimic of the rock itself, but from the side away from the sea, you should see an overlay of the water with tall ships painted into the scene as if looking out on the ocean as it would have been with the Pilgrims just arriving.

I think that'd be neat anyways. Here's a link to my 2001 pic of the Brandenburg Gate ad, so you can see what I mean.
