Orange Line riders north of Boston to face two years of periodic weekend, night bus service

South End Patch reports on impending bustitution north of the city to let the MBTA build the new Assembly Square stop in peace. There's no set schedule yet for the "diversions," but the T says what will start out as sporadic shutdowns will grow more frequent as the station progresses.

I heard they also might be busing from (ST)Ruggles to Forest Hills next Saturday.

During peak periods the train is often full when it leaves Wellington. I wonder if the MBTA staff have thought about the impact of the increased amount of passengers with these old trains. Should be fun.

First, they most likely will avoid peak travel times for bustitution. I commute to/from Sullivan Square, so I completely understand the crowd situation, but that's why the article specifically states evenings and weekends.

Second, the stop is being added as part of the Assembly Square development project, not because the "MBTA staff" thought it would be nice to do so. If you're against increased development, getting mad at the MBTA isn't really the right way to go about it.

Or do you think they're extending the line further north, perhaps?

Not talking about bustitution.

I understand the MBTA staff has nothing to do with it.

I am not mad at the MBTA.

I do not think they are extending the line further north, not stupid.

I am speaking of old subway cars on a line which will be carrying more people.

And I wish to complain about the litter on the cars, while we are randomly throwing MBTA-related complaints out there...

Don't blame me, I don't eat on the trains.

I saw somebody stuffing muffins into her purse on the red line yesterday.

But she did take her trash (empty box) with her.

... this weekend (between Forest Hills and Ruggles) -- according to placards that were posted this morning.

(I see TheVanJones scooped me). ;~}

....that things are finally moving forward with the Assembly mess..err..square improvements?
Thanks to a cabbie in the know, it all makes a little more sense why progress is so slow over there. Good to see that da 'ville is taking some steps forward. Even if it means a bit of bustitution frustation for awhile.
