Tobin commuters hit the brakes, slam repair work

The Herald talks to drivers (stuck in traffic?) on the Tobin, who weren't real pleased to learn that the work had to be stopped after firefighters found problems with the pipes intended to deliver water to the bridge in the event of a fire.

You know, take to the bridge in huge and overwhelming numbers, drive up on it and stop, jam every lane, back up every ramp and intersection leading to it, cork intersections by blocking the box, etc. Really make an aggressive statement about strength in numbers and their level of aggravation!

Oh, wait. That's rush hour.

Maybe it is time to replace the bridge with a tunnel?

I sometimes wonder if the Herald is a satirical experiment and we're not in on the joke.

In a story about delaying further construction because firefighting elements need to be certified as safe, a Chelsea resident said, my emphasis, "A commute that used to take half an hour now takes two hours. And what if there’s an accident on the bridge? It’s a safety hazard. They’re being very foolish about this."

You can't make this shit up!

some people in the state of Minnesota who decided to delay necessary repair work to the superstructure of a certain bridge because they determined it would be too much of an inconvenience to the traveling public.
