With any luck, we won't all wake up blind and chased by walking carnivorous plants

A Boston Reddit user in Salem reports a bright, greenish-blue shooting star, moving southeast, around 9:10 p.m.:

I was thinking maybe a plane was crashing but it was glowing greenish and moving extremely fast. The strange thing is it did not look like it burned up completely in re entry if it was a shooting star. ... I have been stargazing for a while and have seen some amazing things in my time , but never anything like this.

A ``Day of the Triffids'' reference.

You're good. Very, very good!

I have "Science Fiction Double Feature" from Rocky Horror Picture Show running through my head: "And I really got hot when I saw Jeannette Scott/Fight a triffid that spits poison and kills"

Here's some archiving of sightings of this thing: http://lunarmeteoritehunters.blogspot.com/2012/08/meteor-breaking-news-massachusetts.html

From as far away as Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. Report form asks for direction of flight - many answered "left to right." Good thing we're not responsible for circumnavigating the planet these days...

But now I have to see the movie again. Or maybe the mini-series from the BBC I think in the 80's

BBC4 radio is just finishing a Triffids series. They repeat them occasionally.
