Kerfuffle

That's how the Outraged Liberal describes that Clinton camp's desperation over the fact that Barack Obama and Deval Patrick share the same campaign advisor:

... Hillary Clinton's main line of defense these days is that she's taken the full force of the GOP Fear and Smear Machine and Obama has not. So perhaps she should be thanked for taking one potential non-issue out of the McCain armory.

Or is Hillary plagiarizing Kerry Healey?

Jay Fitzgerald, though, sees the beginning of the end for Obama.

I agree that Clinton's camp is desperate, but I find it amusing that the Obama camp is reeling from a little bit of criticism. I'm afraid they'll have to get used to it if they're going to win the nomination.

This is pathetic by the Clintonites. She calls Obama a plagiarist while she lives off her husband's success while president. Give me a break. Before this campaign started, I respected Hillary but at this point I'm really disgusted by her.

Damned if you do, Damned if you Don't...

Come on, Reeling isn't exactly the word to use, unless you need to find a way to paint everything he does in a negative light to stop his momentum.

If he doesn't confront this attack, it grows in the media void, and then allow Hillary to attack him as not being able to withstand attacks. If he attacks it head on, as he's doing, he's somehow "Reeling"... please.

This is a calculated attack from Clinton, and it is in fact not untrue. But the problem is, the Clintons have been playing this game worse then the Obama camp. Unfortunately the media isn't calling their bullshit on this, but rather trying to create a new narrative to exploit and make the race closer. I'm glad Obama is trying to wrestle this before it explode; he;s showing he's well suited to go against attacks such as this when the GOP slime machine ramps up.

Just to leave you with how disingenuous this attack is, here's what the Clinton camp said during a media conference call when trying to stir up this basket:

Jake Tapper reports on the same conference call I referenced above:
I asked Clinton communications director Howard Wolfson and Rep. Jim McGovern, D-Mass, if they could assure the public that neither Clinton nor McGovern has ever done what Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, did when he used the rhetoric of Gov. Deval Patrick without footnoting him.
They would not.

In fact, Wolfson seemed to say it wouldn't be as big a deal if it were discovered that Clinton had "lifted" such language.

"Sen. Clinton is not running on the strength of her rhetoric," Wolfson said.

Layman's terms: "We can;t and won;t say if we've ever "borrowed" anything for our own speeches, plus we're not as good at the talking thing, so it doesn't count anyways".

Old politics, Hillary can go to hell.

Oh, and another thing the media fails to tell you,

Obama's speech writer is one in the same as Devals, another black politician from Chicago.

They're all part of the same circle. Attacking him because of the similarities and Patrick's shortcomings so far while linking the rhetoric would have been a much better attack. Just attacking the same use of rhetoric is lame, and reeks of desperation.

Who the hell is advising this group of clowns? Ready on day one my ass, they're still 2 weeks behind on what they need to do to pull off a win

(They had no clue of Texas delegate system worked! Never bothered pre-planning for after Feb 5th!)

I heard about that connection this morning on NPR, which is kinda sort media, no? And I know it's not the first time I heard/read about it; in fact, the first time was before our primary, when people were noticing the similarity of the Together We Can, Yes We Can, You Sure Betcha We Can rhetoric.

NPR sure, but so far in the past few days CNN, MSNBC, FOX haven't bothered to let anyone in on this detail just yet. Not sure if print has even had a chance to get a start on it.

NPR isn't exactly the MSM for most people.

I think the globe also did a piece on it a while back, and there was no problem then. Just goes to show you the red herring this is, and what a wonderful job the media is doing trying to blow up the simplest things on both sides to create a controversy.

Hillary's played this one well so far as far as media attention goes, but what of impact? I think it hurts her in the long run.

It is abundantly clear that it isn't "plagiarism" if your buddy hands over his campaign history at the end of a success, and bids you to use it with his blessing.

Clinton is really looking desperate and clueless here. Is a temper tantrum an implosion? Or an explosion?

The only temper tantrum I'm seeing are from the comments boohoo'ing that Obama got caught with his hand in the cookie jar!

Um, I thought that was Bill ... oh, cigar box, not cookie jar. Gotcha.

His hand in a Uranium ore mining operation in Kazakhstan is much more interesting. It's nice to have be able to pat each other on the back (and make millions).

Either Clinton doesn't understand what plagiarism is, or she's being dishonest in calling a general similarity in a few lines "plagiarism." Any student writing a school paper would be allowed that much similarity to an existing text.

Since I do grant her intelligence, I doubt that lack of understanding is her excuse.
